Nostalgic Funk

I think we don't need a time machine (I mean literally) to travel back to the past. Why? 'Cause at present, there's this one thing that always reminds us of yesterday - and that is music.

Why did I say so?

2013 na nga, pero sarap balikan ang panahon no? Akala mo twing Miyerkules, Biyernes, Sabado at Linggo ka lang makakapagsenti ukol sa mga old school na bagay? Akala ko rin e.

Isa akong batang 90s, kaya huwag ka nang magtaka kung ilang taon na ako. Pero sa halip na makiuso ako sa mga nauusong bagay ngayon. Mas nasasarapan pa kong tanawin ang alaala ng nakaraan, noong panahon na marami pang sitcom sa gabi kesa sa telenobela, na ang Fiesta carnival ang pinakamalapit na aliwan, at ang palabas sa COD Cubao ang pinakacheapest form ng quality entertainment (yan ay kung wala ka pang pang-sine pag Christmas). Walang digicam, modernong cellphone noon at ang Beeper, Tamagotchi at Viewmaster pa ang mga gadget nun. Wala pang mp3 at DVD at ang Betamax, Cassette Tape at ultimo ang Laser Disc pa ang mga patok na bagay noon. Pero buti na lang, narito pa rin sila. At kung wala man, may mga litrato pa rin na pwedeng ipaskil sa Facebook at sabihing “buti na lang, naabutan ko ang mga ‘to.”

O minsa'y mas okay pang magbalik-tanaw sa mga video ng palabas na napapanood mo nun (pati ultimo ang mga commercial) sabay i-tweet sa Twitter na may hashtag na “#ThrowbackThursday.”

Throwback Weekend Programming

I wish I could include RX 93.1's Monstrous Riot here, but its schedule falls on the mid-week. Anyway, to start things out, if you are an FM radio lover, regardless of what station you are patronizing, you will notice this: for seven days that it airs, there will be like a day or two for playing classic songs.
